Our Mission

Team California’s Mission is to create a culture of ultra-competitiveness with like-minded High School Players who aspire to play College Baseball. The mantra at Team California is “Poise, Freedom and Focus.”

As Team Cal Players learn to play the game with Poise, they have the Freedom to execute and Focus on details!

Team California burst on the SoCal Youth Baseball scene in the Fall of 2011 after winning the USA Baseball 16U SoCal NTIS Tournament. The original Team California squad included current 2024 NLCS MVP and World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers Super Utility man Tommy Edman. The first 2013-2014 team featured 22 Division 1 players, and 7 MLB 1st Year Drafted players. The core of the 2013-2014 squad was RHP-3B Jordan Pearce Nevada-Detroit Tigers, RHP-OF Drew Weston CSUN, OF Chase Grant Nevada, LHP Ryan Wilson Pepperdine-Baltimore Orioles, IF Ian Evans GCU-Baltimore Orioles, 1B Ryan Garcia PLNU-Seattle Mariners, RHP Slater Lee Cal Poly SLO-Oakland A’s and RHP CJ Burdick USD. The first squad is who laid the groundwork for Team California. However, the 2016-2017 Grad Class is the squad that solidified the Team California Program with 45 Division 1 Players, and 6 MLB Drafts with more to come in the 2021 Draft. The 2016-2017 Squad was Ranked #2 and #8 in the Nation by Perfect Game two years in row. The Squad featured: RHP Kevin Abel, the 2018 National Freshman Player of the Year and College World Series Champion with Oregon State. Milwaukee Brewers starting 3B Joey Ortiz was the 2019 WAC Player of the Year at New Mexico State, and also the 4th Round Pick of the Baltimore Orioles in the 2019 MLB Draft. C Korey Lee was the Houston Astros 1st Round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft via CAL, and now is the starting Catcher for the Chicago White Sox who recorded the fastest Pop Time in the MLB with a 1.78. C Daniel Cope was the 13th Round Pick for the Colorado Rockies after competing in the 2017 College World Series with Cal State Fullerton. 1B Trevin Esquerra was a 2-Time All-WCC player with LMU. Team Captain SS Sam Wezniak, who would help lead CAL to the NCAA Tournament in 2019 as CAL’s starting SS. The Team California’s Pitching Staff’s two big arms were RHP Jonathan Worley of Stanford University and RHP Nate Walker, who is at USD. Team California plays the game the “Right Way”, has a “Blue Collar” work ethic, and is known to be “Salty” by the way Team California just grinds. Team California is now recognized as an Evoshield Prestige Club and is exclusively sponsored by Wilson because of the aforementioned players. Team California is also recognized as an Icon Club with Prospect Select.
